Author Description Bruce Babington is Emeritus Professor of Film and Literature. Educated in New Zealand and Oxford, he taught Elizabethan drama, <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/42920._Wallace_Stevens" title=" Wallace Stevens" rel="nofollow noopener"> Wallace Stevens</a>, and detective fiction at Newcastle University. His research spans British, Hollywood, and New Zealand cinema, television (especially sitcoms), literature, and sports media. Babington has written on topics from <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/22931968._Irene_Dunne" title=" Irene Dunne" rel="nofollow noopener"> Irene Dunne</a> to <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6307388._Billy_T__James" title=" Billy T. James" rel="nofollow noopener"> Billy T. James</a> and <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1856448._Ernst_Lubitsch" title=" Ernst Lubitsch" rel="nofollow noopener"> Ernst Lubitsch</a>’s silent films. His recent work includes a history of New Zealand film. He supervises postgraduate research and has received significant funding, including from the AHRB and AHRC. A passionate music lover and cricket and rugby enthusiast, he speaks some Thai and Māori and remains a leading scholar on Australasian media and literature.
