Author Description Dirk Strasser’s historical fantasy <i>Conquist</i>, set in the dying days of the Inca Empire, won a Silver Medal in the <b>Coffee Pot Book Club Book Of The Year Award</b> and was a finalist in the Best Fantasy Novel category of the <b>Aurealis Awards</b>. His screenplay version of <i>Conquist</i> was a featured finalist in the <b>Creative World Awards</b>. <br /><br /><i>Zenith</i>, <i>Equinox</i>, and <i>Eclipse</i>, his epic <i>Books Of Ascension</i> fantasy trilogy inspired by the mysticism of old Tibet, was published in English and German, and his middle grade urban fantasy <i>Graffiti</i> was published by Scholastic.<br /><br />Dirk has won a <b>Ditmar Award</b> for professional achievement, his story “The Doppelgänger Effect” appeared in the <b>World Fantasy Award-Winning</b> anthology <i>Dreaming Down Under</i>, and his short stories have been translated into several languages, many of which have been collected in <i>Stories of the Sand</i>. <br /><br />He is the longtime co-editor and co-publisher of <i>Aurealis</i>, Australia’s premier fantasy and science fiction magazine, and the founder of the Aurealis Awards. He has been a high school teacher, a writer of best-selling textbooks, and a publishing manager.
